: i typed “26 burger” into google images and got back a crapload of ugly, so i’m posting this photo from my phone instead. :
26 beach, a gem in the oft forgotten marina del rey/outskirts of venice, is def worth its weight in empty bloody mary glasses. after having a helluva time looking for parking, we waited a good hour or so for a spot in this quaint cantina-turned-resto. (seriously? when was the last time you saw marigold painted walls not on a taco tuesday?) the upside to waiting was that we poured over the extensive menu of broke da mout brunch + burger options. You Understand Me? (yum.)
i’ve recently really gotten into putting eggs on my burger + i do love 24.7 brunch, so after much meandering, i settled on the brunch burger: “served all day and often!” [like your mom]. topped with a fried egg, applewood bacon, and cheddar on a burger that weighed as much as my laquisha, this was no small meal. i barely managed to scarf down half of it before flagging the waitress for a box. mah bad.
the burger was meh. the egg may have weighed it down too much, but the bottom bun was the real deal breaker: too thin & soggy to soak up the grease from the patty. i not like soggy-bun! it was too heavy to eat in one pick-up, and once you put it down - girl, it was game. over.
- burger: 3.5 out of 5 stars
- fries: 3.5 out of 5 stars
overall thoughts: they don’t call these babies craftsman burgers for nothin’.
would i go back?
i am all about sampling the rest of the menu, bro. fersure. this beachy spot comes with cute outdoor seating that i am totes down to sip mimosas at. plus, i think their bloody mary celery sticks are the only veggies i’ve had all week.
